Superintendent Jerry W. Williams 

​

     From humble beginnings with the nurturing and discipline of a single mother and grandmother, Pastor Williams grew up in Pine Bluff and began his walk with the Lord in 1975 under the pastorate of Saint Dewitt Hill, Jr.  He served faithfully in the First Trinity Church Ministry in several capacities ranging from President of the Youth Department to a driver in the church’s transportation ministry.  His commitment to serve God and his willingness to undergird the ministry with his talents and resources, were foundational to the Call to the Ministry which he accepted and his ordination as an Elder in 1983. 

     It was in 1994 that Pastor Williams accepted the Call to Pastoral Ministry and founded the now Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ which has evolved from the concepts of a ‘Place of Healing’ for God’s people and a ‘City of Praise’ knowing that God inhabits the praise of his people.

     You would want to know that he is a churchman and extends the work of ministry beyond the beloved Prayer Garden congregation that he shepherds passionately.  He was recently appointed  to the office of Superintendent of The Pine Bluff District # 1 C.O.G.I.C prior to this he served as Jurisdictional Secretary for the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Arkansas. He is also  Vice President on the Advisory Board of Jefferson County Retired Seniors Volunteer Program.

     Pastor Williams is a champion of Christian and public education.  He holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in Biblical and Religious Studies from North Carolina College of Theology.  He

attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Lindenwood College in St. Louis, Missouri.

 Pastor has been married for over 50 years to his High School sweetheart Diann Walker Williams and they are the parents of four sons and one daughter. They have twelve grandchildren including one great grandchild.  

 

His God-given mission is to bring the masses to Christ and membership in his body through the word of God; to mature and equip believers for ministry in the church and mission work to a dying world so that God’s name shall be magnified.
